Okay,
fellow dragon lovers, fantasy fans, roleplaying rogues, and amateur web designers, here's the answers to the emailed questions I most often receive. |
"I want you to know that I am flattered and pleased that so many folks like my site enough to want to emulate (or copy) parts of it, and I thank those of you who are courteous enough to write first and ask permission to use things from DragonFantasy.com." - Fred Hurteau, Dragonmaster, DragonFantasy.com |
NUMBER
ONE - Can
I use your inspiring quote from the intro animation and the Of Ages Past
page that goes "In
all this wide world there surely must somewhere be a little magic left over....."
etc. etc., (you know the one), and put it on my web pages? Answer - NO. It is an original quote, it's part of what makes Dragon Fantasy unique, and may not be copied or duplicated for any reason or purpose. HOWEVER, there is no law against PROPERLY QUOTING someone. In this case the quote must be properly and clearly credited to Original quote by Fred Hurteau, DragonFantasy.com. It must be in HTML text format and NOT created as a graphic (.gif, .jpg, etc.). The quote must be inside quote marks, and must NOT be so prominent on your page that it appears to be a major design element for the page. It must be subordinate to any headings or text on the page, and the font size for the credit must be the same size, visibility and readability as the quote itself. The credit should also be LINKED to "http://www.dragonfantasy.com/". |
NUMBER TWO - Can I copy some of your pictures / graphics / designs / animations and put them on my web pages? Answer - NO. The interface, page designs and graphics are all original artistic creations by Fred Hurteau, part of what makes Dragon Fantasy unique, and may not be copied or duplicated for any reason or purpose. |
NUMBER THREE - Can I copy the music from your web page and put it on my web pages? Answer - NO. The music on the intro animation ("In all this wide world...." text) is original work by Ross Hurteau, and may not be copied or duplicated for any reason or purpose. If at some point this policy changes, the music will be provided on the "Freebies" page for download. |
NUMBER FOUR - Can you tell me where to find the dragon language / alphabet, teach me how to read dragon, or translate dragon for me? Answer - NO. Alas, I am no more fluent in "dragon" reading or writing than you are. It's not that I don't want to help. it's just that I am an artist, not a linguist, decoder or expert in translating ancient runes, hieroglyphics, or even French. While I am (almost) certain dragons could talk, spell, write and sing, I don't have any of their dictionaries, or even any authentic dragon writing or runes to try to extrapolate a language from. The dragon runes used on DragonFantasy are MADE UP. (Oops, sorry to burst your bubble.) |
